This song and video kind of plays on the second coming of debke, the traditional music of Lebanon, Syria and Palestine, in Lebanese society as it returns to the mainstream Lebanese culture in sort of a modernized and tacky form, although it is also still alive and well in the more mountainous and rural parts of the region. This being said, this song had serious appeal in 2008 in Lebanon, and perhaps moreso in Syria where it resonates more with the current local musical trends and the tastes of Syrian listeners who might identify less with run of the mill Lebanese pop these days.
